Sex and The City: The Movie, The Book
***Warning*** The nice girl in me feels the need to tell you that the review below could contain spoilers of the movie. While I am not attempting out give out major plot points, some of it is necessary to get my point across. So if you don’t want to know, please, click away now. Ok, enough nice girl, on to the goods…
I admit it. Last night I was one of the crazy girls with tickets to see the first showing of Sex and the City at exactly 12:01 AM. I had to get up early with Little AG this morning, and I got home at 3:30 am, but I didn’t care. It was worth it. I LOVED IT. I am a fanatical SATC fan (but really, is anyone not?) and have seen every episode in order, from start to finish, starting at season one, ending at season six. I can’t get enough. So, even though the reviewer from the New York Times doesn’t agree, I was extremely happy with the movie.
I do feel the need to share with you that I arrived with 3 of my friends in the theater at 11:15ish for a 12:01 movie. We walked right up to the ticket counter and she printed out our pre-paid tickets in 2 seconds flat, and I’m all “maybe it was silly that we got prepaid tickets — there’s no one here”. And then we walked upstairs. HELLO! There were women EVERYWHERE. It was sheer madness. We were ushered to the theater where our movie would be shown, and when we walked in I realized that 11:15 was not quite early enough — there were no seats left except for the really bad ones. NONE. Not even 4 seats between 2 groups of slightly sketchy people. Who waits an HOUR in a stuffy theater for a movie to start? Apparently everyone but us. I swear we were the last group of people to walk through the door.
There were women in large brimmed hats, girls in stiletto heels and fab dresses, and a grand total of 5 men who must have been being blackmailed by the women they were with — because there is NO WAY that hubby would have gone to a midnight showing of SATC with me. Anyway, my favorite part of the night, besides the movie itself, was when the woman next to us pulled a martini shaker and full-sized martini glass from her purse. She sipped cosmos through most of the movie. Seriously.
Well, today I received my copy of Sex and the City: The Movie and I have to tell you how much I love it. It goes scene by scene through the movie, and almost like a companion storybook, it tells the story of the movie, along with some commentary from the cast and crew. This book is awesome and is a must-have for all of my fellow SATC fans! Its a hardcover edition with 176 pages of pure bliss! Each page is filled with gorgeous color still shots from the movie and little snippets of trivia. I felt like I was watching the movie all over again!
To top it off, there is a section about scenes that didn’t make the movie, and a COMPLETE listing of every outfit worn by the fab four in the movie (so that you don’t have to scour the internet to find out about that awesome dress that Charlotte was wearing, or the bag that Carrie was
carrying). Oh, and for you stalker-like folk, there is a listing of every on-location place used to shoot the film.
Really, this book rocked my world. Hubby will be saddened to know that I spent an hour pouring over it instead of washing clothes or cleaning the kitchen. Your copy of Sex and the City: The Movie is patiently waiting for you at Amazon — and right now it’s on sale for 10 dollars off, making the total price $19.77. So go, now, and grab one!

Lovin’ the Bath Luve

Poor Little AG’s first experience in the bathtub was rather unpleasant for all involved. Even though we tried to make it warm for her, she screamed like a banchee the entire time — until her daddy finally had to feed her a bottle while I finished bathing her (you should see those pictures — they’re hilarious). Well, unbeknownst to me — there was a fabulous, mom-created product that could have helped us to soothe Little AG during that bath.
Bath Luve (Love-ee) are these awesome clothlike drapes to dip in the water and place on your infant’s chest, shoulder and torso area. They keep the baby warm and soothed, which in our case, would have been such a blessing! They come in 3 different designs, a duck, a frog, and a fish — oh so adorable! These are a must-have for any mom of an infant, and they would also make a great add-on to a baby shower gift!
Head on over to the Bath Luve website to grab one of these for the baby or babies in your life! You can purchase them directly from the website for 6.99 each! What a steal!
Mop of my Dreams

Quite literally, this is the mop of my dreams. While I’m a bit hazy on the details, I do know that I was using this mop to clean floors in my dreams last night. Now that I think of it, though, aren’t dreams supposed to be fun and exciting? Why the heck was I mopping? I should have been making out hanging out with David Cook from American Idol instead of mopping — but, I digress.
Anyway, I purchased this oMop by Method a while back on the recommendation of my friend, T. I’ve gotta say, it is a pleasure to use. It was easy to assemble (snap, snap, snap, velcro = mop)
and even easier to mop with. The handle is curved so that you don’t have to bend and like, break your back when you mop (though hurting your back by mopping does give you a good excuse to whine and watch a bit of TV, so if that is what you are looking for, skip this post all together). The cleaning micro-fiber pad just sticks onto the velcro, and wham, you’re ready to mop. The cleaner stuff (in a nice lemon-ginger scent — no toxic knock-ya-down fumes there thankyouverymuch) just squirts from the bottle to the floor, then you run the mop over it. Amazingly, it picks up a lot of dirt. A lot. Especially for those of us with dogs and toddlers.
When you are done mopping you just rinse out the mopping pad and hang it to dry. I feel a lot better about having this in my house than a germy-ole mop. Plus, it works really well — I highly recommend it if you haven’t found it yet (and all of the Method products, for that matter). You can buy yourself an oMop on Method’s website for $30.
Your back will thank you. You might even dream about it.
My Lucky Post

Did you know that it’s unlucky to cut your hair on a Friday or Saturday? Or that you shouldn’t change the sheets in your guest room until your house guest has been gone from your house for at least an hour? By the same token, you shouldn’t turn down the sheets on a bed too early, for fear that bad luck might make itself comfortable there. And do you have mistletoe hanging in your house all year long? If not, then you should — but make sure you only cut it during the Christmas season, and hang a new sprig each Christmas Eve.
I have learned all of these things plus so many more fun facts from reading “Luck: The Essential Guide”. Ever pick up a book that is just fun to read, from beginning to end? Well this book is fun, no matter where you start reading it — even if you start in the middle! Written by Deborah Aaronson and Kevin Kwan, “Luck” is a great conversation topic! We took a little two-hour road trip with some friends today, and we chatted a bit about the different topics in this book. I’m really not overly superstitious, but this book has been so enjoyable — and since it is written in small snippets about specific topics, it’s easy to pick up in the middle or just thumb through until you find a topic that really interests you.
I definitely plan to pack it in my carry on bag for my upcoming summer travels — it would be great on the plane — fun to read, but nothing too heavy or involved. It would also be a fun beach or poolside read! If this sounds like a book you would also enjoy then you can purchase Luck: The Essential Guide on Amazon.com for $13.57 and it will also qualify for free shipping on orders over $25.
Coloring and Cupcakes
I was browsing Etsy this morning when I happened upon these beautiful items from the storefront of ChichiBoulie. Based out of Lille, France, all of these exquisite pieces are hand drawn. Among my favorites are these adorable coloring books — like this one for boys called “Le Mer” (the sea):
They are 10 pages long and retail for $5.50. At 4 by 6 inches, they are the perfect size to slip into a travel bag for some quiet coloring time.
My other favorite items are these adorable gift tags — you can get a set of 6 for $5. I like the cupcake style, but there are other designs as well, like Bridal Shower tags!
Check out these as well as the many other adorable designs at ChichiBoulie — she also sells custom artwork and stationery, among other things!
Winner of the Protect-A-Bub Giveaway
Well, we have a winner!
Random.org chose #18, so congratulations to Miranda who will win the swimwear and swimhat for her son. Miranda wrote: ” This would fit my son perfectly and would be a huge blessing for this summer. It’s already going to be 94 this weekend, I think we’re going to be getting a lot of sun in the months to come.”
I’m so glad that your son will get great use out of this!
Thanks to everyone who entered, and don’t forget to enter our new giveaway for a Marriage Tee from “From*me Tees”!
Chic Shopper Chick Giveaway – From*Me Tees
Have you ever been an innocent bystander somewhere and witnessed someone wearing shirt that sported a not-so-positive message? I certainly have, and sometimes just reading them makes me turn red in the face. I don’t even have to go into specifics for you to know the shirts I’m talking about because I know right now you are sitting there at your computer, nodding your head. Anyway, I found this company and their products a really refreshing change of pace, and a great way to promote the good things in our world!
Last week I had a sweet little surprise for hubby when I showed up wearing this adorable shirt thanks to “From Me Tees”. The front of it says “MHR” but on the back shoulder it says “My Husband Rocks”.
I am picky about my t-shirts, and have a slight problem with everything not being long enough for me, but I didn’t have that problem with this shirt. It was a great length and a great fit, though I do advise you checking their sizing charts depending on the shirt that you choose because some of them run smaller than others.
From*me Tees offers a variety of ways to show your love for your spouse via a cute t-shirt. The one I have is the Retro Pink “My Husband Rocks”. I also really like their line of shirts for engaged couples that say “My Wife to Be Rocks” (or “My Husband to Be Rocks” as it may be!). They also sell some, urm, intimate items for Brides-to-Be. I recently went to a lingerie shower and those would have been great gifts — I especially like the one that says “Something Blue“.
These would be so cute for everyday wear, or for a special trip or honeymoon! These t-shirts are ageless and can be appreciated by everyone! They are so comfortable and soft — I love mine and can’t get it out of the wash fast enough! Check out the rest of the adorable products to celebrate your spouse at “From*me Tees“.
Bonus! If you order 2 or more products from From*Me Tees and mention that you saw this product review on Chic Shopper Chick, your shipping costs will be refunded by the next business day!
Win it! From*Me Tees is generously offering to give one Chic Shopper Chick reader one of their Marriage Tees valued at $18 or less! To win, comment on this post with a statement of why your spouse rocks and which product from their website you would choose if you won. You can go to their website to click around and make your decision!

I’mmm baaaaccckkk!
Hello Chic Shopper Chick readers! I wanted to apologize for my crazy week and my less than punctual posting! I am a volunteer for a really awesome non-profit organization here in town, and every year for the past 5 years I have helped to organize a big banquet celebration for the end of the year. Last night was that banquet, so the past week has been consumed by preparation for that and my head has been abuzz with words like “centerpieces”, “pipe and drape” and “catering” INSTEAD of my usual words of “blog”, “twitter”, and “product reviews”. I haven’t forgotten about you all, however, and now that things have calmed down, I am back in full swing, ready to bring you all kinds of fabulous finds!
On a similar note, we have some amazing giveaways and reviews coming up — so keep checking back often to see what is in store! Enjoy!

Maybe it’s the princess in me, maybe it’s because my name means “royalty”, or maybe it’s because I’m from a culture of Mardi Gras traditions where it’s often normal to hear “I’m royalty this year” or “I’m on the court” — but I just love representations of royalty and elegance! This classic crown pillowcase is no exception — I think it would make an awesome addition to our bedroom, as a matter of fact, because it would match the blue and brown color scheme that I’ve got going. This fabulous accent pillow is 14×9 inches and is stitched on a fine linen. Be royalty in your own right by grabbing one for $26.50 at Orient Expressed.
PS — Be sure to check out their smocked children’s clothing while you’re there — it’s not to be missed!
You’re gonna dig this!

How cool are these brightly colored garden tools from the Sarut group? They are made by one of my favorite (French!) designers, Créa Créa, and I think you would be the hit of the neigborhood if you were seen pruning with these babies. The garden shovel is $20 and comes in 3 different designs (my favorite is this red one), and these cool pruning shears sell for $30. Perhaps a bit pricey for “just” a garden tool, but hey, no one ever said it was cheap to be fashionable. I mean
, is a Chanel bag “just” a bag? I rest my case. Check out these and lots of other cool stuff at one of my favorite online shops – The Sarut Group.
Posh Plates

I admit that I’m addicted to Jon and Kate Plus 8, and since we’ve been out of town for 3 days now, I’m assuming that all of the reruns have probably filled up the empty space on our DVR. Kate always has the cutest stuff for her kids, and once I discovered that a lot of the things I like were Em Tanner Designs, I have become a frequent visitor to the website. I have been cyber-stalking these adorable melamine plates for a while now, and I think I am going to break down and order one for Little AG. I liked the ones with the full name on them, but then I discovered these initial plates, and now I’m torn. No matter which one you choose, it will show up with your child’s name on it, which I think is SO cool. All of the designs are so cute — go check out Em Tanner Designs to see what you can fall in love with!
