Gimme a Boost, Mom! (Giveaway CLOSED)

356 Comments 08 February 2009

Little AG has officially been two years old for less than a week but I’ve been noticing her gradually develop a stronger sense of independence for about two months now. (Some call it stubborn, pig-headed, and relentless–but me? Nah, I’ll stick with independent.) One of her new favorite phrases is “Help please!” (which really sounds something more like “haaaeep peesz! haaaeep peeessz! haaep! haaaep!” so now I get why I could never understand other people’s children when they were this age!) when she is asking if she can help you do something like put on her shirt, take the dishes out of the dishwasher (yes, I cringe each time), or help mommy to cook.

Most of these things are ones that she can try to help with, but when it comes to things in the kitchen, obviously the height of the countertop is an issue and serves as a barrier for how much she can help with. A chair would be too dangerous to stand on, and she can’t sit on the countertop itself, so our options are limited. The creators of The Learning Tower had the same exact thought about toddlers who are Little AG’s age, and they developed a product that safely brings toddlers aged 18 months and up to countertop height. The tower is available in 9 non-toxic colors to match your home, is simple to clean, and has an adjustable height platform so that as your child grows, so can the tower. Plus, throw a blanket over it and Voila! — instant playhouse.

The Learning TowerTo celebrate Love of Learning Month, the folks at Little Partners Inc. have teamed up with 20 awesome bloggers who will be giving away one Learning Tower each! I’m proud to be kicking off the beginning of these giveaways here on Chic Shopper Chick by giving you a chance to win a Learning Tower of your very own. The rules are below, but remember, if you don’t win here you still have 19 other chances to win – so be sure to enter them all!

Win it! For your initial entry, leave a comment here telling me why you’d like to have a learning tower. After that, every other (pertinent) comment left on this site on other posts from now through February 17th will count as an extra entry each. You don’t need to come back to this post and tell me you commented on another post, I can stalk track you via your email/ip address. As usual, extra entries are also available for stumbling Chic Shopper Chick (leave your stumble name), subscribing to my site, following me on Twitter, and blogging about this giveaway with a link back here. That’s it, so good luck!

US entries only, winner will be chosen via random.org at the end of the contest. Winners are posted here, please leave a valid email address or blog address if you’d like to be contacted should you win. Winner has 72 hours to claim their prize. I’d love to have this for when my ten month old is ready to help in the kitchen! Right now he “helps” by being on my hip or in his sling… :)

  5. Lauren says:

My 2 y/o has discovered a love for the kitchen!! His favorite has been helping me make homemade cookies! I was going to make cookies the other night and pulled out some break-apart cookies to throw on a cookie sheet…I asked him if he wanted to help make cookies, and he said yes. When he saw that they were the pre-formed cookies he said “Note Tank You. Flour Gookies”. He proceeded to the pantry and pointed at the flour. Needless to say, we were up late, but I had to oblige! :)

I would really love this tower because I like that it fosters a positive self-image and a sense of independence in small children as they climb up and down without assistance and fits flush against kitchen counters for safe access, allowing your child to get a drink of water, help with dishes and laundry, decorate cookies and join in with other family activities.

  10. Lily Kwan says:

I’d like to have a learning tower because it looks very useful!

I would love to win one of these! I know several people who have them and they have raved about how wonderful this product is. My son loves to help me cook and be in the kitchen with me.

  19. Marie Hodges says:

I have a 3 year old grandson that I believe this was made for. He loves helping in the kitchen, but he also likes to play cards and games at the table when does her scrapbooking. A booster seat doesn’t work well so he ends up on his knees or standing on whatever he can find. The learning tower would be perfect.

    Thank you,

This would be great for my sister’s kids. Actually I’m thinking it will help her as much as them. Keep them in one place without having to worry about them falling. If I win it for her I’ll buy the easel to go with it.

I am a mom to be and I have honestly just started hearing about these. But what a great idea! My neighbor can’t keep her kids from climbing on things and all we do is monitor where they are. If you give them something sturdy to climb on and let them “help” out, they are safe, and you know where they are!

  37. Denise says:

(Mommy isn’t very good, lol!). She is short (cause her Mommy is!) and has a hard time seeing what he is doing and a stool is so wobbly! This seems like it would be perfect, so sturdy and safe and also a gorgeous furniture piece! Thanks so much for the chance!

  50. Tammy Marshall says:

My children are so curoius but also too small to see what’s going on in the kitchen. They always want to see what I’m making (dinner), or cleaning (dishes), or reading (cookbooks). This would be a great “win”.

  53. Laura G says:

this would be perfect for my nephew who wants to help out in the kitchen all the time

  54. I really want this for my little guy!

  55. Kelly says:

I’ve been thinking aobut these for a while – with one kid, it was doable to let him stand on a chair, but now with two kids, each on their own chair (trust me, two on one is NOT a good idea!), I feel like I’m doing that plate spinning act in the circus, you know? Jumping back and forth making sure each one doesn’t get too close to the edge, or fall off, or reach too far, slip, etc. I think it would actually look kind of funny if you videotaped me doing it, but phew is it exhausting! and everything in the kitchen takes 10x as long! I would definitely consider letting both kids stand in the Learning Tower together, and even if only one were using it while the other still had a chair, I’d feel so much more secure about stepping away from the one in the tower.

  56. Brooke says:

This is my second post. I’ve been coveting this tower!

  57. xenia says:

My daughter is always a little desperate to be up at our level in the kitchen and usually just ends up sitting on the counter so that she can see. Having this would be such a better (and safer!) solution. Plus I love that it can hold two kids so that when our youngest gets big enough, both girls can stand on it. Thanks!

I have a different take on this. I don’t want it for the kitchen. I want it for the work shop. My grandkids like to watch me work on projects and tinker on the car. The older one is tall enough to stand on a stool and even help on doing things like sorting and arranging, she likes doing that. The younger one wants to help too, but it is hard enough just keeping him corralled in one place long enough. This would be the answer to my prayers, and I bet alot of other papa’s too, but they just wouldn’t dream of entering contests like this. I’m not too proud, my grandkids would almost rather me win something for them than buy it. Thanks for the opportunity.

  77. Kathy S says:

I’d love to have the Learning Tower to present it to my daughter…she would surely love me forever! She has 2 girls, ages 6 and 2, and the older one loves to stand on her stable stool to help Mommy in the kitchen, but the little one gets frustrated because it’s a bit harder for her to help out. 98. Anne says:

I’ve been excited about these ever since I learned about them. I have great fantasies of my little boy cooking with me, and I think this is a perfect invention.

  99. michelle robbins says:

  100. Mir says:

I love to cook. This would give my little girl the chance to see what I am doing when the time comes and eventually help me out. Seeing food being prepared and helping out promotes good eating habits too so it’s never too early to start.

  101. P. Harmon says:

Everyday I have to drag a chair over to the kitchen counter, then the chair slides on the floor so I have to stand there with my foot holding the chair so it doesn’t do that. One month ago my boy had to get 4 staples in his head from falling! Need I say more?

I would love to win one of these because, I am raising my 2 year old niece who is small for her age as she was a preemie, and she loves to be right with me seeing what’s going when I do dishes, cook etc. The problem is she is resorting to some dangerous methods to try to reach the counters. She will roll her tricycle over and try to stand precariously on the seat, or wheel one of the dining room chairs with wheels over and try to stand on that and I am scared to death that one day she will slip and fall on the rock hard tile floor. This would be a huge help!

  140. jenny says:

This would be awesome! My husband is a pizza-making fanatic, and loves the kiddos to help and be involved. This was a great idea until our 2 year old fell off the counter and busted her head open. She begs and begs to be able to still help, but standing on the floor, or sitting in a high chair is not the same. I love everything about the learning tower, and I know we can rest assured knowing that a horrible fall is not gonna happen with one of these! Thanks for the chance!

  141. Betty Rose says:

Well my kids are grown and no grandchildren yet, but I know who this would be perfect for. My little niece and nephew, my brother’s grandchildren. What I like about the tower, and I think my sister-in-law will too, is that it will keep them still in one position while they are working on one project. I think it will keep them focused. Of course their mom will probably think the same thing and want to keep it at their house. So if I am lucky enough to win I will just let them decide, works either way for me.

My SIL is due to have her 1st baby any day now and I would love to present her with this for when her little one is old enough (which we all know comes so fast!)

I have a Toddler grandson whose birthday is coming up and the Learning Tower is certainly something he would put to good use and have a lot of fun with. He’s not tall enough to reach the counter no matter how hard he tries, climbing, stacking things, slippery step stool. Plus this would keep him in one place to help him concentrate on his activity.

  156. Shannon says:

I would love this we do the chair at the counter rate now and have had a few close calls. This just seems like it would be so helpful.

  157. winvin says:

I’d like a learning tower so that my husband can stop cooking with one hand. My son NEEDS to help, and hubby’s arms are getting tired. He says one-handed bacon is the most challenging.

  158. Sue E says:

I to would use this in the kitchen so my little boy could help me or just watch. He feels so left out just standing on the floor! Thanks for the chance to win!

  172. Grenda says:

Oh my gosh…I so need one of these. I adopted my daughter from Vietnam 7 months ago. She is now 20 months old. When we get home from work/daycare, she wants to be in my lap or in my arms. As you can imagine, this makes it incredibly difficult to make dinner. If she could be in the kitchen helping me, I think she might actually let me cook something of substance other than hot dogs and pasta!

  173. CDStardust says:

I would love to have one of these! I am always worried that my 4 year old is going to fall of the chair he is standing on while he’s helping me cook or bake. I constantly tell him “be careful, you’re going to fall down” he probably thinks I am a huge nag! Thanks for the chance to win one.

  214. The other day my daughter wanted to bake with me, I didn’t have the learning tower so she had to sit on the counter! How horrible!

  215. I would love this because with 6 kiddos, someone is always wanting to help me in the kitchen. While the baby can’t help yet, he’s not too far away. Right now the 3yo and the (extra tiny due to a bone disorder) 5yo are my constant companions. The 7yo loves to help too and she still uses a chair so she can see well. This prodcuct would be handy and safe, making all of us happy!

I have been trying to win one of these for awhile now, I have a 5 year old and 3 year old and a 5 month old. My 3 year old son has Sensory Processing Disorder and we are always trying new things with him as far as getting him to touch different textures, We are at the counter all the time doing different things and I am always holding onto him standing on the chair. The stool is not tall enough for him, and the bar stool is just not safe with no back on it. This would be great to help him and his brain learn how to tollerate different textures, and getting dirty while cooking!!! This would work great for all my kids but really help in the learning process for my dear son!!! I think this is the greatest inverntion I have seen out there and would love to win one!!

  287. I subscribed! Hmm why should I win this and not someone else, ahhhwe are all the same everyone is deserving for one reason or the other. Why I would truly love one, though my be different. My daughter was born a huge 1 lb 1 oz she is severly developmentally delayed, but has a big brother who trys to help show her the ways! She is now 1 year and almost 13 lbs she can crawl and zip around but wants to pull up and we have nothing sturdy enough other then the ottoman. Not only will this help little Abby pull up, but it will help my sweet son who is 2 be able to have something to color on that he wont get in trouble for, not to mention he is for some reason loving the dishes he likes to rinse them weird I know but it would make life a bit simpler for him to stand on something and “help” mommy out rather then to sit in the darn sink….no it doesnt start that way but boy does it end in such a mess. its crazy! And last but not least Abby watches her big brother and if she sees him playing in and around the tower she will join! We would love one!! Thanks for eveing reading this much!!!

OHMYGOSH!!! I’m so excited! My husband and I have been looking at one of these for our 19 month old son – he’s so darn curious in the kitchen with us and loves to be a part of everything we make. I am an avid cook and we spend a lot of time in the kitchen together, as a family. This would be perfect – I would LOVE to have this!
What a great giveaway, thank you!!!

    Hi

I have always wanted one of these! I do learning activities, science experiments, crafts and cook with my kids very often. I have three beautiful, curious children, one of whom is on the autistic spectrum. Keeping him directed playfully is a constant challenge for me. He and his 16 month old brother are unsteady on kitchen chairs and stools, so doing things at counter level is difficult, to say the least. I do not feel I am more deserving than any other parent who has entered, however, I would be very grateful to win one and it would get much use!

    Thank you,
    Rachel

My husband and I both love to cook and my son gets very curious so I think this tower would be perfect for him. Thanks for the chance.

  327. Danielle says:

My little guy is always trying to climb the cabinet shelfs when I am not looking so he can crawl across the counter to help me. This would be a lifesaver or a broken arm saver. What a great idea, instead of saying “NO” there is a safe alternative!

  328. Betty N says:

This would be great to use with my younger grandchildren; especially with my almost 4 year old. He loves to “help cook”.

    Also following you on Twitter!

I also subscribed. Love your blog!

  331. Estela S says:

This would be so perfect for my family. My daughter loves to help me bake and to prep dinners, but I’m always reluctant to have her stand on chairs to reach the kitchen counters. This would allow us to continue our bonding time and stay safe!

  332. melissa says:

    I subscribe

  333. melissa says:

I would love to have my son be able to see what we are doing in the kitchen and “help” out if he wants to! What a great idea…

  334. Michelle says:

    I subscribe to your feed.

  335. Michelle says:

It would be great to win this, my daughter is always curious about what we are doing in the kitchen. This would satisfy her curiosity.

  336. Kristy Sand-Lentz says:

I have been trying ot win one of these for a couple of months now! lol
I have 4 children ages 18, 16, 4 and 3 but I also watch 4 others ages 4, 3, 2 and 18 months. They are always wanting to help me cook, wash dishes, make lunch and this would be the perfect solution to my fears of their safety! I cannot always bring whatever I am doing to their little table because of the 2 littlest ones.
Thank you and Little Partners Inc. in allowing some mamas to win one of these and provide a safer enviroment in the kitchen!
    Kristy
