Every year we celebrate a much-loved holiday tradition – we go shopping and we look for toys that we can donate to Toys for Tots. This year Walmart graciously gave us $100 to purchase toys to donate to the charity of our choice. As is our tradition, we brought them to Toys for Tots.
One of my favorite parts of taking Audrey Grace with me to shop for toys for children who wouldn’t otherwise have a Christmas is that she really gets into what it means to give back to others. This is the second time that Walmart has given us such a wonderful opportunity to give back like this – and the second time I have made a video documenting it. The sparkle in Audrey Grace’s eyes as she chooses the perfect gift for another child is absolutely priceless – and now I have two videos that I can see it in – one when she was 3 (that you can see on my YouTube Channel) and one now that she is 5. The difference is remarkable – Audrey Grace was able to narrate our entire journey this time, and was very fair about choosing toys for both girls and boys. (Though I think the girls still may have come out a few toys ahead.)
So here is our Walmart Charity Toy Haul Video – let me know how you think we did?
Of course after we picked them out we brought them over to our local Toys For Tots donation box which was very exciting (although Audrey Grace is always so sad that we aren’t allowed to wrap them!).
How do you give back around the Holidays? Do you have a Charity that you prefer? Let me know what you do to teach your kids the “meaning of Christmas” in the comments!
