Back in June I was in Bentonville for the annual Shareholders meeting with my fellow Walmart Moms and while we were there we got a sneak peek of something that I think will really change the way that we shop. But first, let me back up a bit. When you shop you’re always hoping that you’re getting the lowest possible price, right? None of us want to overpay for something that we could have gotten for a better price somewhere else. So what if one store could give you the opportunity to shop with confidence – to promise you that if you shop in their store, you will get the lowest possible price?
With the introduction of Savings Catcher, Walmart is doing just that. I was given a super secret sneak peek of this amazing service back in June, and on August 4th it will be ready to share with the world. So how does it work? Let’s take a look!
After your visit to a Walmart store, input your receipt into Savings Catcher using the 20 digit number on the bottom of your receipt – like this:
You’ll also include the date of your purchase, then you hit the big orange button that says “Add Receipt”. You will then receive a message like this one —
Walmart will then compare the items to competitors in your area to see if anyone else has a lower advertised price. This usually takes 2-3 business days, but I’ve had my results in as few as 12 hours. If they find one, you’ll get the difference back on a e-gift card, which you can then apply to a later purchase. The total amount of savings accumulates until you say that you’re ready to use it – then you can use your e-gift card right from your phone in the check out line. Pretty stellar, right?
You can also check out your past receipts to see exactly where you’ve saved! You can see in this example the one that I just submitted and is currently being processed, a receipt that I put in just last week, and then one from when I had a chance to try the service back in June.
I know it sounds a little confusing but it really is super simple. Save your receipts, put them in, wait for your savings. Most importantly, shop with confidence.
