Audrey Grace’s Slime Moment

2 Comments 27 March 2015

We have been counting down until the Kid’s Choice Awards on March 28th – they are always so much fun to watch.  This year both kids fell in love with the movie Annie, so they are super excited to watch the KCAs since the actress who played Annie, Quvenzhané Wallis is slated to make an appearance.  Plus they are looking forward to seeing Jamie Foxx, Iggy Azalea and host Nick Jonas (and so are mom and dad!).

Naturally, we couldn’t officially prep for the Kid’s Choice Awards without-you guessed it-slime!  We decided to have some fun and make our own slime yesterday-after we were done making this video the kids played with the slime for over an hour.  I cannot think of the last time that anything held their attention for that long-they had a blast!

How to Make Slime
I grew up watching Nickelodeon myself and I remember thinking how cool/gross/mostly cool it was to get slimed.  I always wondered what the slime would feel like – and thanks to our fun and slimey afternoon – now I know!

The best part about it is that it’s really easy to do – all you need is warm water, Elmer’s Glue (we tried 3 different types – clear for clear slime to add glitter to, the traditional Elmer’s school glue, and glitter glue – which was our favorite consistency of the three), and a teaspoon of Borax (found in the aisle by the detergents – you can brighten your clothes or remove stains with the leftovers).

Audrey Grace, my little YouTuber-in-the-making, even made a video to show you exactly how to make slime.  She did a really great job – and is so excited to share it with you!  Who says slime is just for boys?

You can get really creative with your slime – add food coloring, glitter, etc.  We had so much fun – we tried out 3 different types of slime! What kind will you make?

Ingredients for Slime

  • 1 bottle Elmer’s Glue
  • 2 tbsp warm water
  • 5 oz warm water
  • 1 tsp Borax
  • Glitter, food coloring, or other fun add-ins

Instructions for how to Make Slime

1.  In a bowl, mix the entire bottle of glue with 2 tablespoons of warm water.

2.  In a separate bowl, mix together 5 oz of warm water with 1 teaspoon of Borax.  (Don’t worry if all of the powder doesn’t dissolve – it will still work.)

3.  Add Borax and warm water solution 1 oz at a time to your glue solution until you get the consistency of the slime that you desire.  More Borax mixture means a firmer slime – less means a more stringy, oozy slime.

4.  Have a ball enjoying your slime moment!

Thanks Walmart and Nickelodeon for this super fun opportunity – and be sure to tune in to the Kid’s Choice Awards on March 28th.   You can follow along with me – I’ll be live tweeting during the show with the hashtags #KCA and #ReadySetSlime.
