Must-Have: Colored Denim

It all started with a pair of J Brand Mid Rise Skinnies in Electric Blue. They were comfy like leggings (hello, Japanense Twill!), structured like jeans, and right on-trend. I wore them to work with a cropped trench, out in Brooklyn with a hot pink silk tank, and lunching with friends paired back to a simple tee. OBSESSED MUCH?
The answer is yes. But after awhile, my eyes began to wander. And my heart began to lust. First it was a purple pair, a Spring style that I hunted down relentlessly all over the Upper East Side-to no avail….huge bummer. I did, however, find them in Emerald Green and now we are insperable! These jeans have become my new uniform.
There are a multitude of ways to wear colored denim, but this is my go-to look:
Of course, the bright denim takes center stage in this ensemble. I tone down the bright factor with some of my wardrobe staples-an easy tee and classic blazer. My favorite tees are the v-necks from Old Navy and my all-time favorite blazer is the Gabe from Theory. Jazz it up with a great necklace-currently, I’m into big gold collars-and you are all set!
Have you jumped on the colored denim trend? What’s your favorite way to wear it?
Z Spoke by Zac Posen (Current Obsession)

Currently gushing over? Z Spoke, Zac Posen’s secondary line. It has an all-around feminine feel to it, is fun and playful-basically a less schizophrenic version of the Marc by Marc Jacobs line. The current assortment is marked by vivid colors and simple details. Simply put by a salesperson at Saks this weekend, “it’s lunch clothes”, as in ladies who lunch. And it really is.
The collection is conservative as far as coverage goes but many of the styles are nice and body-con, so you can maintain a little bit of a sassy edge. Classy yet sassy! I love it. There are standout items as well as easy basics that make a nice foundation for a great look. Some of my favorite items are below.

4 Dresses That I Need. Now.

I have this website that I love, and because I love it, I try my darnedest to stay away from it. My wallet appreciates it. However, I was just browsing and I thought “hmmm, maybe I should throw up a quick post about these dresses that I love” because I have a dress-obsession. I love my denim, but give me a skirt or a dress, and I am like a kid in a candy store. I live in dresses!
So sometimes I surf the internet for hours, or scour the stores, and can’t find something that catches my fancy. Since I’ve discovered ModCloth, things have changed. By the way, I have absolutely no relationship with ModCloth (though I wish I did) apart from the fact that they have made lots of money off of me. I just like it.
Anyway. I have my own dress code and wear what I want when I want to. Usually I’m what most people would consider “overdressed”. I don’t really care. Here are 4 dresses that I would wear for no special occasion. All from ModCloth.
The first one makes me wish I was teaching again, the second one makes me dream of spring with footless leggings, gladiator sandals, and a long necklace, the third one reminds me of my Sorority days, and the last one makes me want to to be in a boat with the love of my life on a Venice Canal. This is why I buy clothing. Every single piece I buy tells me a story – one that I know or want to know. Inspiration to dress – I truly think everyone should have it.
What inspires you?
Fashion Obsession: Free People

I was bopping around on the Free People site this morning, and fell head over heels in love with this dress. I want it. Bad. I need it, can’t live without it, gotta have it, MIGHT GO CRAZY IF I CAN’T BUY IT kinda want. See what I mean? It’s serious.
This is the Graphic Cutout Ponte Dress from Free People, and I’m in love with it’s classic, sexy shape, and surprising yet elegant back. I love clothing that is undeniably sexy but that leaves a little to the imagination, and I think that this dress does that well. Very well. So well that I must have it. Did I mention that part yet?
I will be so disappointed if I try it on and it doesn’t look right on me. Maybe it’s better if I don’t buy it, because then it can never let me down.
Hm, has this turned into an entirely different discussion now? I think it’s a possibility.

Label snobs unite! For those of us who have always dreamed of owning a pair of “Choos” but couldn’t stomach the high price-tag – our day has finally come! Jimmy Choo has partnered with H&M to launch a line of shoes, bags, and accessories for both men and women on November 14th. The collaboration of the famous British accessories brand with H&M has also inspired a women’s clothing line that will be specifically designed to compliment the accessories. That’s how I like to shop — find the best shoes and accessories first, then create an outfit around them!
The collection will only be featured in 250 of H&M’s stores worldwide, but chances are that you’ll be able to snag some Choo swag at an H&M near you. Can’t wait until the fall to see this much-anticipated collection? I’ve got a sneak peek for you below!
