Keep it Poplin

When I was in Miami at Womm-U last month I realized that I forgot one of the ensembles I had decided to wear to the opening reception. As you can imagine, this threw a total wrench in my plans, so I ran out to hit the stores on South Beach. On a whim, I ducked into an American Apparel store, just to take a quick look. Finding racks of cotton and bright colors I was skeptical about what I would find, until I pulled this adorable Poplin Cross-Front Dress off of the rack and slipped into the dressing room. I pulled it over my head, turned to look in the mirror, and fell in love.  If you’ve never met me, you may be surprised to know that I’m rather tall — at 5’8″ I leave most people looking me straight in the eye, if not up.  Thankfully, this dress didn’t come up obscenely short on me and is the perfect length for summer.  I bought the same bright blue dress pictured here, but I don’t think the picture does the dress justice, as it’s much cuter than this in person.  I paired mine with a wide, black elastic belt with a silver clasp, a pair of silver Steve Madden pumps, a silver clutch and voila!  Insta-glam.
