Oh the laundry. The laundry never ends in my house. When Audrey Grace was an infant, I thought she went through a lot of clothes – and she did. But as soon as she hit toddler age, that was when the real laundry began. My sweet little blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby girl can get herself into any mess that you can imagine. Sometimes I find myself hesitant to invest in the nice clothes and clothing brands that I used to when she was younger, because she can ruin a nice outfit without even trying (it’s not her fault – she’s clumsy like her mommy! I tried to give her a head start with the middle name Grace, but to no avail!).
Because they know that we have laundry woes, Wisk sent us a bottle of their new detergent in a sexy, red-hot bottle – Wisk with Stain Spectrum™ Technology. Word on the street has it that this stuff really holds up to it’s name – so I transformed Audrey Grace into my guest scientist for the afternoon and we tackled one of the toughest stains of all – a grass stain. For those of you non-scientific types (don’t worry, I’ve got my mirror out) a grass stain falls under the category of a protein stain. Other protein stains? Eggs, baby formula, and spinach.
Check out our experience below with the detergent (as well as proof to the clumsy claim above!):
We tackled our protein stain with a little Wisk with Stain Spectrum™ Technology in the form of Audrey Grace’s initials, and we could literally see the stain disappearing before our eyes before it ever even made it into the beaker to be washed. Of course, as with any project, we had a little hiccup when little AG slipped off of the chair and knocked over the beaker – but she was fine (just not too happy about being wet!) and we were able to finish off the experiment without a hitch!
So far, I’m very impressed by this new formula of Wisk, and we are looking forward to trying it out on a different type of stain in the near future! Stay tuned!!

I spend a lot of time here on Chic Shopper Chick talking about fashion, clothing, shopping, and style. Fashion has been something that has held my interest for a long time, and this blog has naturally progressed in the direction of giving fashion tips, tricks, and suggestions. However, it recently occurred to me that for all of the time I spend talking about BUYING clothes, I don’t spend a lot of time, if any, talking about the challenges of caring for your clothing after the initial purchase.
Let’s face it, in an ideal world I would be able to just ditch my dirty clothes to buy brand new ones. Seeing as how I’ve chosen writing as a career path, I’m quite sure that won’t be happening any time soon. Clothing is an investment, and I count on being able to wear each piece at least ten times, possibly as many as thirty or forty if it’s a staple item. That means that after the first wear, I have to figure out a way to care for my clothes in such a way that keeps them looking new while lifting stains and odors from the fabric. A peek into my closet proves that I’ve somewhat mastered the process (though I still have the occasional casualty):
Of course, becoming a mom flipped my perception yet again because my daughter is hard on her clothing. She loves to play in the mud puddles that appear after a rainstorm, roll around in the grass, and finger paint. She steals pieces of chocolate from what I thought was my hidden stash, and wipes her chocolate-covered hands all over her dress. Sometimes we have upwards of three clothing changes a day, and my washing machine can be heard swishing away at all hours of the day and night.
This month, Wisk is rising to the challenge of parents everywhere when they release a new laundry detergent with their innovative Stain Spectrum™ Technology, which will combat a full range of stains from proteins to oils. Check out the teaser commercial below (and the sexy new red bottle!):
Of course, Wisk isn’t new to the stain-game – they’ve been helping moms tackle stains since the 1970′s. While a lot has changed since the 70′s, the day-to-day laundry challenges that we face remains eerily similar. I’m sure that, back then, there was more than one mom who had a daughter that splashed in every mud puddle she could find, slid into first base, and expressed her love for art by getting more paint on her clothing than on the paper. Of course, Wisk has come a long way as well – they started out tackling those stubborn collar rings, and are now ready to help parents tackle even bigger jobs. For a giggle, check out Wisk’s classic “Ring Around The Collar” commercial:
I haven’t gotten my hands on the new Wisk with Stain Spectrum™ Technology, but I’m hoping to test it out very soon. I’ll keep you updated on my continuing education, but in the meantime keep your eyes peeled for that bright red bottle – you can’t miss it!
“Wisk”ed Away to New York

Oh, things are so busy around the House of Chic. (I just made that up, clearly it’s well past midnight and I’m still drinking coffee when the craziness hits the fan.) I am so excited to be heading back up to NYC to spend Tuesday evening learning all about Bubbles! Wisk has invited several bloggers up for a special event to learn about the inner workings of High Efficiency Laundry detergent – and I’ve gotta say that I’m pretty darn excited about it. As much as I’d just like to buy new clothes instead of washing and re-wearing the ones I already own, my limited budget prohibts such activites. So…at the very least, it is extremely important for me to know the best way to take care of my clothing!
Naturally I’m really looking forward to it, as well as meeting some of the other bloggers. Of course, before any of this can happen, I’ve got to get on a plane from my much beloved hometown of New Orleans to New York City. And while that may sound like a simple little thing – it requires some form of goverment ID on my behalf. Of course, as I discovered, there is one teensy, tinsy little problem.
My driver’s license expired a month and a half ago on my 27th birthday. Oops.
So, first thing tomorrow morning, (oh wait, that would be in 5 hours) yours truly will be standing in line, waiting to get one of those eternally unflattering photos snapped for that little piece of plastic that tells the world that I passed a driving test at the tender age of 15.
Wonder if I should tell them that I drove into a ditch only 3 days later?
The good news is that I’m already packed! Less than 48 total hours in NYC, and I’ve managed to narrow it down to 4 complete outfits, 5 pairs of shoes, 4 necklaces, 3 pairs of earrings, a blowdryer, curling iron, and flat iron. Aren’t you proud?
I knew you would be.
