Cactus & Ivy: Design their Valentine’s Day Line! (A Contest & Giveaway!)

I’m sure by now if you are a frequent reader, you have figured out that not only do I love shopping, but I love beauty products.  I can literally spend hours searching for the perfect item in Sephora, would own every MAC eyeshadow if only I could find a place to store them all, and wouldn’t deny being obsessed with finding the perfect mascara.  Naturally, I found it unbelievably cool that one of my sorority sisters from college, now a very accomplished makeup artist, had actually designed and created her own line of makeup.  How exciting!  I mean, how many people can say they “designed” a line of beauty products?

Well, thanks to Lisa, the owner of Cactus & Ivy, now you have the same opportunity!  She has graciously offered one lucky Chic Shopper Chick reader the chance to work with her to create and design the Valentine’s Day Line from Cactus & Ivy.  Apart from bragging rights, you will also get the chance to take home some of your fab new products.  But, before I get too ahead of myself, let’s talk a bit about Cactus & Ivy.  Read on to discover more about these awesome products!

All products in the Cactus & Ivy line are natural, never tested on animals, and completely cruelty-free and vegan – meaning no animal by-products – not even beeswax or honey!  This is so important to me as a consumer because 60% of what you apply to your skin is absorbed, and I like to take care of my body so that it gets me through the long haul!  Not only that, but Cactus & Ivy products are formulated to improve the quality of your skin and to restore it’s natural balance by using essential oils that are high in vitamins and minerals.

The product selections are so plentiful that they are almost overwhelming – so I asked Lisa for some guidance.  She shared that her favorite all-time product is the Peppermint Tree Foot Balm, and I personally think I would love the Soy Indulgence line.

So how about it?  Are you ready to design the new Valentine’s Day Line for Cactus & Ivy?  The winner will receive an 18 oz. body scrub, 8 oz. Bath Grains, and 2.5 oz of Body Balm of their new creation, and will work hand-in-hand with Lisa to make it perfect by choosing essential and carrier oils for the products.  Then, the line that you designed will launch the week of January 19th on the Cactus & Ivy website as their new Valentine’s Day Line.

To enter, just follow the easy-peasy rules below:

  • Visit Cactus & Ivy and come back here and ell me if there was something you could change about the Cactus & Ivy website or blog, what would it be?
  • Earn extra credit! You may do these for extra entries.

    • Subscribe to my RSS feed via email or in a reader and tell me about it in a separate comment.

That’s it! Good luck! Oh, and the official rules and legal jargon are below. (Please read it because it is a little different for this special opportunity!)

US entries only, winner will be chosen via random.org at the end of the contest. Winners are posted here, but please leave a valid email address or blog address if you’d like to be contacted should you win. Winner has 72 hours to claim their prize. This contest ends at 11:59 pm CST on January 6th, 2009.  The winner will be required to sign a release form saying that the creation of the above products are property of Cactus & Ivy and the winner has no legal claims to their ownership or development.

Enlarge the pictures just a little. Great site!!

  9. Veronica Garrett says:

I would list the ingredients in the products.

  10. jjean says:

I like the site and the products have many virtues, which I would suggest touting more. There is the spot on the main page where you can learn more, but I think that a roting spotlight on the value of omega-3s or vitamin E with a link to the other great ingredients would call a lot of attention to the composition of the Cactus & Ivy products and showcase their quality. Thanks!

  11. Susan Smith says:

I would suggest the pictures be bigger

  12. Tracey P says:

I didn’t notice that they had a shipping cost on there – just saw the timeframe. When I shop online I always like to know what the shipping cost is before I go through the hassle of shopping and putting it in the cart, etc. If I missed it then they might make it easier to find, if I didn’t miss it then they might consider adding it. Thanks!

I think the thing I would change is on the products page. You should put up more pics of your products. Other than that it looks good :)

  16. sarah lehan says:

I subscribed to yoour RSS feed on Google reader.

  17. Valerie C says:

Larger pictures of each product (I know you can click to enlarge but the pictures are so small that you kind of HAVE to, which is frustrating, especially if you have a slower connection). Also would suggest thumbnails on the product list page, just because it is nice to see what each item looks like in advance. I also second the shipping cost comment – I love it when companies post their shipping policies up front!

Beautiful stuff! I really like the banner on the home page.

  18. Kayce says:

I wouldn’t change this site. I looked at every heading, and it seemed very complete.

  19. Daphne R says:

Post a ’scent list’. Some folks (like me) are scent-shoppers. If I see ANYTHING citrus, I’m a sucker for it; even if I never thought I needed it!

  20. Vanessa says:

Beautiful website!! The only thing I might change is making the pictures larger. I realize that you can enlarge them but the products might be more eye catching if they were already larger.

  21. desiree kelley says:

    great website

  22. Liz says:

It looks pretty good to me, but pictures would be helpful, and add some pizazz!

  23. Becky Grady says:

    I wouldn’t change a thing! I really liked the article “It’s a Conspiracy”.

  24. Renee We says:

Cactus & Ivy: website needs more photographs.
I like the Soy Milk Lip Balm.

  25. Susanne Troop says:

I wouldn’t change a thing…very attractive and easy to navigate!

  26. lace says:

The site is very easy to use and looks wonderful. I love all the information available.

The only think I might change is having a scent list where it’s easy to find instead of only in a drop down menu on. I like a quick look at the scents available.

  27. Pamela White says:

I would change the site by showing picturesof the individual products or examples of the products on the page shown after pressing the products page.

  28. Elizabeth Ray says:

It looks good to me. Until computers come with Smellovision (ha!) you have everything needed that’s possible!

  29. Julianne B says:

I would add a “build a basket” and a free reminder service for hubbies or s wish list.

I know often when I buy those types of products, I end up making up a gift basket with them if I am giving it away to another. Gift baskets are the perfect presentation for this product and encourages people to buy more.

Not sure if she is in the position to take on that risk though during these tough economic times.

I would definitely add a “valentine’s” theme if that is her current proposed market.

    Wishing Lisa much success!!!

  30. Helen says:

I would include pictures of products on the products website. Also, the pictures are rather small on each product page, while it can be enlarged, it’s rather time consuming to click on each picture. A search engine on the website would be nice to find an exact product.

  31. Donna K says:

My only recommendation would be to add more color.

  32. Michelle H. says:

I would say add more product choices. For example, I see one body wash and one face moisturizer (perhaps add one with anti-aging properties). Otherwise, I really like what the site has to offer and would love to try many of the products.

  33. Donna K says:

I follow you and sent a request to follow Lisa on twitter.

  35. Kristen Hendricks says:

If there is one thing I could change about the Cactus&Ivy website it would be I would include images of the products on the products page. This is a great giveaway and I really hope I win. Thanks.

  36. Jamaise says:

I can’t really see anything that i would change. It is easy to use & looks clean and calm. That’s a hard question – nothing.

  37. Jamaise says:

    I subbscribe to your feed :) )

  38. Caryn B says:

I think the horse care products are a little strange mixed in with everything….: )

  40. Lily Kwan says:

What I would change about Cactus & Ivy is that they should offer a toll-free phone number.
