If we aren’t friends on Facebook, you missed an epic update on November 1st. It said “I may have just indulged in 30 minutes of Christmas music.”
Yes, on November 1st – the day after Halloween. My friends pretty much rioted.
I love the Holiday season and I think that it’s never too early to start enjoying it. I’ve already pulled out my copy of Love Actually and watched it, so to me that means the Holiday season is in full swing. Of course, one of my favorite traditions is Holiday baking, and I got started a little early this year so that I could share the experience with you. Audrey Grace and I decided to make some delicious gifts for our family and friends for under $5 using some simple ingredients that we snatched up at Walmart. Our first mission was to bake little loaves of Cranberry Orange Nut Bread and to place them in little gift bags so that they would make simple, yet pretty gifts.
So, last weekend, with the help of her grandma (affectionately known as “Gra”), we spent the day baking. You’ll find the recipe for the Cranberry Orange Nut Bread below – it’s so simple and so delicious!
Also, it should be noted that I DESPISE cranberry…but I will eat this entire loaf of bread in one sitting. This is the good stuff, people.
Cranberry Nut Bread
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
zest of one orange
1 beaten egg
1 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Crisco Vegetable oil
3/4 cup Fisher Pecan Halves
1 cup fresh cranberries
Grease pans with butter and sugar.
Chop the cranberries and the nuts set aside. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and orange zest in a bowl, then set aside. In a small bowl, beat the egg then add the orange juice and vegetable oil. Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and and stir until it is all well blended. Add in the chopped nuts and cranberries and stir until they are evenly distributed.
Pour mixture into greased loaf pans and bake at 350 for 45 to 55 minutes, depending on the size of the pan.

The flour is all purpose flour or bread flour? What size is the pan? Thanks.
