You know, instead of an inVESTment? It’s a dress, so it’s a inDRESSment! Ha. Haha. Ha. Wheeewww. Oooookay. Yeah. Anyway. Moving right along.
This truly is an investment, because this sweet little dress is kinda pricey. But, for the price of this dress you also get this one, and that one, and that one, and that one…. This convertible dress from Butter By Nadia can be worn in an inumerable amount of ways, meaning you’ll get more bang for your buck. And in today’s economy, even the most die-hard fashionistas are fast becoming recessionistas. The cool thing is that you can wear this to multiple events with the same people because you can make a different look out of it every time!

You can wear this dress at least 24 different ways, but I bet those of you that are creative can find even more ways to rock it! Check out all of the different looks below. The dress is actually only sold in one size, and fits women from a size 2-16. Oh, and attention all pregnant women! This could be the only dress you need to make it through an entire pregnancy! It will grow, and then shrink, with you – plus you can wear it so many different ways that you’ll never have to worry about seeing the same people!
There is no denying that this is a cool concept, but what do you think? Is this something you would like/wear? Let me know in the comments!

24 Ways to Wear the Dress

I bought a couple of these dresses on sale in 2009. I got 1 black and 1 red one for under $20 shipped. You’d think that it was a cheap dress, but it is surprisingly thicker material than I thought. I gave one to a friend for her birthday and kept the black one…… unfortunately, I only found it now. I don’t have the instructions because I also gave those to my friends. I see lots of the styles it can be wrapped up in, but haven’t had any luck w/ tying mine up, yet. I think that it’s a great investment for a dress that can offer so much versatility for so many occasions.
I think this is a fabulous dress–I’m using it for my three bridesmaids at my November wedding. HOWEVER, I went to the LA textile market, found some gorgeous, thicker and stretchy material and had my friend’s mom make them all–total = $110/dress! She’s even making a bandeau to wear underneath from the same fabric, as depending on how the girls wear them, they will probably want a strapless underneath. Your bridesmaids can wear the dresses in a different style for the ceremony, reception and afterparty! I’m super excited about them, but there are better options out there than paying $200+/dress. My two cents!
I just bought a convertible dress from a company called Nuova Vita. The website is http://www.nuovavitaonline.com. It was beautiful! The fabric was so soft and a great quality! It was definatly worth it! Check out the Short Convertible Dress for $97.50. They also make shirts that are $67.50. How can you go wrong One Dress but you wear it so many different ways. Totally worth it!!
I have this dress, but it is by Two Birds Bridesmaids in NY. We got these for my bridesmaids, they ranged in sizes from 0 to 8, two of them being very busty (and yes, they did wear a bra) and curvy. They looked amazing! I bought one for myself in black…so far it has been the ultimate little black dress. I absolutely love it and my bridesmaids have all worn the dress since the wedding (and that was just last August), we have all been really satisfied.
This dress is great IF you are a size 2 or 4 and an A cup. I tried it on in their Brooklyn store (which opened 1 hour and 10 mins AFTER the hours posted on their website and voice-mail) and was very disappointed. The fabric is great and the different ways to style it are awesome BUT (and this is a huge BUT) you cannot wear this dress without a bra like they claim you can. There is NO support at all. As a large C cup, I was hoping this dress would be the one with all the claims they made about no bra necessary.
Sigh. If you are an A or B cup and very thin, it will look amazing. Otherwise, keep shopping.
Catrice,
How is the dress from Akira holding up? I like the butter by Nadia but cannot spend that amount!
I bought this exact dress at Akira for…. you won’t believe it… 49.00!! The same gorgeoud quality. Doesn’t wrinkle and comes in Red, teal, black, purple and beige. Taking it to Jamaica with me. Watch out!
Pretty cool but its really expensive. I mean at $246.00 is it really an investment when you can buy like 20 dresses for 12.30 at any other store
Love the versatility of that dress. Loving your blog as well, wish I had come by it sooner your one funny and entertaining lady.
Talk about a flattering dress. I just love it!
It’s a bit pricey for me, but the idea is good and maybe I can use someof the suggestions on a dress I now own
Clever idea. I love it!
Thanks….. Cindi
I would buy it~! in fact had one similar to it for the Bahamas~only WAY cheaper~ it’s a great dress~
I’ve spent much more for Kat’s dresses only to be worn for one event at school, such as a dance or pageant~ (wait till your little one gets older)
I think it’s a good deal considering all the different looks you get~ and when your best friend borrows it~ she wont’ stretch it out or rip seams~!
Oh for the good old days when I was skinny enough to wear a dress like that. It is beautiful – I can see why you had to make the indressment!
Victoria’s Secret has a version also – for $108

I love the idea of this dress! I would never be able to spend that much money on 1 dress though. That is more than my entire clothing budget for the year! I love the PP’s tip on what to search to get the instructions to make my own!
Wow… that is a LOT of money for a dress (at least for me). :D I think they’re fab, though.
However, if you’re crafty, you can make your own pretty easy! Do a search for “infinity dress” or “infinity dress craftster”. You can easily find instructions/a kind of pattern to make your own.
XOXO

Definitely cool. Loving the versatility, but I know I’m not coordinated enough to get myself into some of those styles, and I know for damn sure I’m not thin enough to get into some too! But when I lose 50 pounds, I’d like to shimmy into a convertible dress!!
