Nuance by Salma Hayek Makes A Splash In Hollywood

0 Comments 28 November 2012

A few weeks ago I gathered with fellow fashion, style, and beauty writers to celebrate Salma Hayek’s line Nuance at CVS at Bungalow 3 at the Chateau Marmont. Naturally as a writer and mother of a 5 and 6 year old I can either be found behind a computer, driving carpool, doing homework, or refereeing fights so it was very refreshing to be treated to a day of pampering using all of the Nuance products.

The Nuance Salma Hayek collection combines Hayek’s modern view of beauty with tricks and secrets learned from her grandmother, a trained cosmetologist. The ingredients in the products are amazing – I’m a sense of smell kinda girl – so I went around oohing and aahhing over how wonderful everything smelled.

I had the opportunity to try out 2 different services at the event – the first was the Nuance Salma Hayek Nail Lacquer. I was in love with a hue of blue called Prickly Pear but since I had currently been sporting a similar color, I opted instead to go with Evening Haze – a muted purple. It was gorgeous, and perfect for almost any occasion – almost a shade of purplish grey – which is how I assume it ended up being named Evening Haze. It lasted a good week before it started to chip, which is more than I can say for almost any polish except for the gel lacquers.

Clearly I was having a good time. Seriously you can tell because I’m like this in all of my wedding photos, too. My mouth is so far open that you can see my permanent retainer. Not kidding either, I zoomed in. Anyway, back to Nuance.

After my manicure I was treated to a facial with the full line of skincare products from Nuance. First my face was cleansed with the Walnut Facial Scrub, then the esthetician applied the Oxygen Activated Foaming Facial Wash. This stuff was so amazing that I went out to CVS that afternoon and purchased it myself. You can feel it working on your face as soon as you apply it, and when she washed it off my face had this fresh, amazing glow. As a beauty writer, I try what feels like a million beauty products each year, and you know when I rush out to buy something that means it’s good. Really, really good.

After the foaming wash she followed up with the Renewing & Brightening Facial Serum and then the Anti-Aging Wrinkle Filler Eye Serum. The result was a more refreshed looking version of myself – renewed and ready for the day. The products were most-definitely on par with department-store brands – something that drugstore brands often seek to achieve but frequently fall short. Overall, I was extremely impressed with the products from the Nuance Salma Hayek line at CVS, and I think you will be, too.

Disclosure: I was invited to an event to try out the products. However, I was not compensated in any way for this post. Opinions are 100% my own.
