Clinique 3-Step Skincare Dupes Now at Walmart

8 Comments 30 April 2014

About 15 years ago I was introduced to Clinique’s 3-Step Skincare system.  My sorority sister worked behind the counter part-time and I remember consenting to her doing the “tape test” on me – where she put a strip of clear plastic gift-wrap tape on my hand, then pulled it up to show me all of the dead skin cells she removed.  Then, she cleaned the other hand with Clinique’s facial soap and clarifying toner and then repeated the tape test.  To my surprise, all of the dead skin cells had been removed and the tape came off clean.

Needless to say, I was sold.  I’ve used the system on and off over the years, but there is no denying that the price of the 3 step system (around $65 for all 3 products) frequently made purchasing the system rather cost prohibitive.

Equate Beauty Clinique Dupe

This is why receiving an email about Equate Beauty’s new comparable line of products – found exclusively at Walmart – had me squealing in glee.  (Seriously. I squealed.  My kids were so surprised that they asked if we had won tickets to Disneyland ‘or something’.)

The line consists of 5 products – known in the beauty industry as ‘dupes’ or drugstore copycats – that are formulated by scientists and tested in clinical settings to perform at the same level as the Clinique products.  So, if you are a fan of Clinique products such as their 3-Step Skincare system and their their Dark Spot Corrector (one of their best sellers, if I remember correctly) then you are going to be thrilled to try this new wallet-friendly line from Equate Beauty.

* Clarifying Toner (13.5 oz) – sells for $9.87 at Walmart.  Compare it to the Clinique price of $22.50 for 13.5 oz.

*  Strikingly Unique Moisturizing Lotion (4.2 oz) – sells for $12.87 at Walmart.  Compare it to the Clinique price of $26.00 for 4.2 oz.

Using Equate Beauty Clinique 3 Step imitation product - edit

To successfully use a 3-step skincare system like this one you must first cleanse, then exfoliate, then moisturize.  So, I started by first washing my face with the Liquid Facial Soap.  The soap comes with it’s own pump, so a pump or two of the cleanser into my hands, then onto my face to work up a lather.  There is no fragrance and my favorite part about the soap is that it is obviously very gentle, because my face did not feel tight and dry after I washed it.

After patting my face dry with a towel, I next used the Clarifying Toner by putting a little on a cotton ball and then swiping back and forth across my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin.  I even swipe it down my neck and onto my chest for good measure – exfoliation is a good thing, right?

Finally, I follow up with some of the Wrinkle Serum, Dark Spot Corrector, or, in true 3-step fashion, the Strikingly Unique Moisturizer.  I’ve actually been alternating between the 3 – hoping to get even better results!

I’ve been faithfully applying the products morning and night for almost 2 weeks now and I see a smoother and more radiant complexion.  The dark circles under my eyes have actually started to fade a bit and I somehow feel like my skin looks — brighter? I’m not sure how to describe it but it looks healthier – I feel more comfortable going without makeup and my skin tone looks more even.  (Also, please enjoy the photo above of me with NO makeup on, because it will never happen again. This is how much I love you, dear reader.)

As someone very familiar with the products that this Equate Beauty line is comparable to, I feel that this is quite the boon for the luxury product shopper on a budget (ahem, me) and I’m thrilled to be able to pick up all 5 of these products in my local Walmart!

Clinique offers their three-step skin care system for different skin types. Do you mind sharing what skin type you have? I’m interested in trying these Walmart dupes but I have combination/oily skin so I’m not sure if the copycats will work for me. Thanks!

Words simply cannot describe how thrilled that I am that Walmart has dupes for the Clinique 3-Step system. I’ve been wanting to use it – but various things have permitted me from doing so. I’m definitely going to pick these products up when I need to restock. Also, you’re very pretty without makeup. <3

These are awesome! What a find. I just googled it and it looks like Equate does some other dupes as well. Know anything about those?
