White Teeth in a Flash with Colgate

5 Comments 27 March 2014

Apparently, having white teeth is a very “American” thing.  On our recent trip to Ireland we were stopped by a woman who asked us why Americans always have such “big white teeth”.  My husband and I found this hilarious (thank goodness we are able to laugh at ourselves) – after all of our dressing to blend in with the locals it was our teeth that gave us away as American!  We were very honest and told her – we whiten our teeth!

Interestingly enough, a week before that incident we were saying that we really needed to start a whitening treatment again – neither of us had done any whitening since our wedding, and our addiction to coffee and tea was beginning to show.  But whitening is truly such an annoying process – it’s not hard and it doesn’t hurt, but remembering to apply the strips, leaving them on for an extended amount of time while not being able to eat or drink – all of that is a hassle.  Let’s face it – in order for me to do it it has to be quick and dirty.  Or at least quick – which is why I was excited when Walmart and Colgate offered me a chance to try the Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-in Whitening Pen.

Here’s how it works:  Brush. Whiten. Go.

NB: This is the first animated GIF that I’ve ever made.  I’m rather proud of myself.

This is the first ever toothbrush of it’s kind, and Colgate promises that you’ll see whiter teeth in 2 days.  Honestly – it worked really well for me and it is so easy – no more annoying whitening strips. I definitely see a difference after about 4 days of use, and it is so easy to use that I will continue to use it on a daily basis.  Finally, I have to mention that it is extremely affordable – for just under $13 you get the toothbrush with whitening pen, plus a bonus package of Colgate’s Optic White toothpaste. Brilliant!

Colgate is having a style makeover contest as well – and you have a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles and a makeover with Jeannie Mai, or one of hundreds of first and second prizes.  Not to mention, all entries receive a $3 product coupon to use on your own Optic White Tootbrush + Whitening Pen which makes the price under $10 – so go enter! You have from now until April 19 to enter.  (Check out OpticWhiteStyle.com for official rules and restrictions).

What do you think?  Is this a product that you feel you would use?

Love that you made a gif! Haha! Awesome. Well done.

I actually saw this in Walmart the other day and was wondering if it actually worked. Doesn’t the gel just slide off your teeth as soon as you put it on?

    • Erika says:

Kay, the gel is more of a pseudo-paste. It is thick, and once it is on it kind of ‘sticks’ to your teeth for about 20 minutes or so, for lack of a better term. I definitely see a difference using it. It is a strange sensation to get used to, though. :)
