Home for the Holidays

2 Comments 14 December 2012

In my work with Walmart I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to the hub of all of the action on more than one occasion (remember my trip to Walmart’s Shareholders meeting?) in Bentonville, Arkansas. However, I was especially looking forward to my last trip there because it was the highly-anticipated Holiday trip – where we got to bask in all of the goodness that is preparing your home for the holidays.

I mean really, how stunning is this? When I walked in and saw all of the gorgeous decorations I couldn’t help but to squeal.

One of my favorite parts of the season is always trimming the tree, and the folks from the Holiday center at Walmart were on hand to give us some tips and tricks to make our tree seem even more festive. I especially loved the glitter picks that you can buy in a bundle at Walmart – just insert them into your tree as is to punch things up with some extra glam and sparkle.

Easy Holiday Centerpieces Home Decorations

One of my favorite things about this day was learning this super awesome, absurdly easy trick for making gorgeous centerpieces and candle displays for your mantle (or anywhere, really). All you need is a glass vase, a candle, and some cinnamon sticks. Place your candle inside of the vase and fill the bottom with cinnamon sticks. Not only do you have a gorgeous display, but the heat from the candle will gently heat the cinnamon sticks and create the most amazing holiday, cinnamoney (I doubt that is a word but now it is!) smell wafting through your home!

On this trip I also learned about setting the holiday table – we actually used two different sets of plates from Better Homes and Gardens that can be found at Walmart, and mixed them together to create a warm, inviting feel – which felt much more like home to me than the stark white place settings that I usually use. We also placed individual votive holders on top of each salad plate to finish the look.

Instead of your typical greenery, we used white roses, clipped short, on the table. I really loved the overall look and the way that the reds, whites, and greens all blended seamlessly together.

We have two of the Better Homes and Gardens wax warmers I also had the opportunity to try mixing and matching some of the wax warmer scents to create a holiday scent of my own. As you can see in the below video I played mixologist by melting both Warm Rustic Woods and Warm Crackling Campfire together to create a scent called “Cozy Cabin”.

We also had the chance to explore ways to make entertaining even easier, with things like the Houdini Wine Opener so that you spend more time chatting with your guests than fighting with a corkscrew. We also used the Esio Beverage system and had the chance to sample all of the amazing food offered in the Marketplace line.
